December Challenge

The Challenge theme for December is ‘How Do You Celebrate?’ We would love for you to share a holiday setting (miniature of course) that shows how you celebrate whatever it is you celebrate. Personally, I love Christmas and I go all out decorating for it. I also am lucky enough to have a detached workshop where I keep most of my miniatures. But, at Christmas … I bring them all in the house. My whole house is filled with trees and glitter houses and market stalls and every miniature Christmas thing I can find. One of my very favorite pieces is a Room Box that Cat Wingler made. It was 2001 and I was working on the Gazette with Dorothy Hansen and was trying to find something for a good cover for the November/December Gazette. I asked Cat if I could photograph her spectacular Santa. And … while I was photographing it … I fell in love with him. Needless to say, he came home with me and has had a place of honor in my house ever since. I can’t imagine celebrating Christmas without him.

We would love to see a photo of one of your favorite miniature projects that shows how you celebrate whether it is Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s Eve or even a Birthday (and we would really love to hear the story behind it).  Send photos to me, Debbie Young yngathrt@gv.net and be sure to send your mailing address so Create can send a little ‘thanks for sharing’ gift.
